Josephine Ann (JoAnn) "Josie" Hart, 92, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died on July 27, 2019,
with her children at her side.
JoAnn was born on December 14, 1926, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Joseph and Louise
(Ernst) Sweeny, and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where JoAnn spent her
childhood. On September 3, 1949, she married William A. Hart, Sr. in Kansas City,
MO, and together they had six children. Bill preceded her in death on May 24,
2010. After living in Broomfield, Colorado for much of the 1960s, Bill and JoAnn
moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where they lived until 2009.
JoAnn graduated from St. Joseph Nursing School in 1948, and spent most of her
professional career as an RN at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
JoAnn spent her final years in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she enjoyed time with her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her friends at Burgundy Place. She
loved her children but her greatest joy came when she became a grandmother.
JoAnn is survived by her six children, William (Barbara), Independence, MO; Mark,
Tucson, AZ; Jan (Dennis) Ziegler, Tulsa, OK; Matt, Santa Barbara, CA; Rick (Susan),
Florence, KY; Meg (Gary) Otterstrom, Tulsa, OK; along with eleven grandchildren,
and seven great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and a daughter-in-law, Judy.
Mass of Christian Burial is Monday, August 5, 2019, at 10:00am, at St. Mary
Catholic Church, in Independence, Missouri. A visitation with the family will be
from 9:00-10:00am at the church, and a rosary will be recited at 9:45am.
Memorial Mass will be held Friday August 9, 1:00 pm, Christ the King Catholic
Church, Tulsa OK. Memorial contributions are suggested to Birthright or
Homeless Shelter of your choice.
