Joyce M. Coyle, 63, of Coweta, Oklahoma, died on Sunday, November 12, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Saint Benedict Catholic Church, in Broken Arrow, OK, under the direction of Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel.
She was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on October 20, 1954, the daughter of Fred and Mary (Callahan) Romine. She grew up in Drumright, Hutchinson, KS and Dayton, TX attending Dayton High School, graduating with the class of 1972. She furthered her education by attending Southwest Texas State University, earning her Bachelor and Master's degree in secondary education. On August 14, 1982, she married William H. "Bill" Coyle, the love of her life, in Dayton, Texas. They were blessed with 35 wonderful years together as man and wife. They moved to Tulsa in 1982 and spent their married life in the Tulsa area. Joyce had a 35 year career in education as an English teacher, middle school counselor, and a career counselor. She worked in Broken Arrow Public Schools and at Tulsa Technology Center.
She was a tireless advocate for public and vocational education and a great believer that everyone had a right to access our educational system. She served as a counselor to everyone in her life. All that were blessed to know her sought out her calm listening ear and her wise advice. However, above all of these professional achievements, she considered her most important job to be that of wife and mother. Joyce lived a life for others, a life of service, and a life of great joy.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Bill Coyle, daughter, Courtney A. Wayland, her husband, Brian, their son, William P. Wayland; son, Cameron L. Coyle, his wife, Maegann, their son, Bennett G. Coyle; daughter, Catherine E. Coyle; siblings, Don Romine, Mary Ann Hale, Alan Romine, Kathie Borum, Ed Romine, and Sharon Ridge, along with numerous other extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Romine, and brother, Jim Romine.The family requests that memorial donations be made in Joyce's name to Catholic Charities of Tulsa, American Cancer Society or Seasons Hospice.
