Obituary

Joyce Holliday Dooman was born on the 13th of February, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away quietly on Sunday morning, the 5th of November, 2017. She was 88.

Joyce grew up on the south side of Chicago with her mother and sister. She was a woman who never knew an occasion that didn't require being fashionably dressed. Joyce was a loving daughter, homemaker, housewife, and the loving, caring mother to all six of her children. She loved hosting parties, playing bridge, country-club lifestyle, and volunteering, from the needs of the Catholic community to the Welcome Wagon. She loved to ease the burdens of others who seemed to move as often as she did.  As her children grew, she joined the workforce and became known as the "Sunshine Lady" while dealing with furniture sales and real estate, which were two things she knew well.  Joyce and Jim moved nine times before settling back in Tulsa.  She thoroughly enjoyed her time in Tulsa and was voted the "People's Choice for 'Mrs. Senior Oklahoma'".

Joyce is preceded in death by: her younger sister, Marion Davis, and her husband Arthur; her parents, Robert and Frances Holliday; her mother-in-law, Lillian Dooman; and her husband of 64 years, James. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Julia Dooman, of Niles, IL; and her six children, John (Vicki) of Katy, TX; David (Paulette) of Wichita, KS; Charles (Laura) of Wichita, KS; Cynthia (Daniel Hayes) of Claremore, OK; Robert (Guylene) of Tulsa, OK; and Susan (Robert) Dorrell of Yukon, OK.  Joyce and Jim were also blessed with eleven grandchildren: Nicole Dooman-Farfan, Jessica Dooman, Megan Dooman, Chelsea (Jay) Powell, Daniel (Emily) Hayes, Jeanne Dooman, Lily Dooman, Allison Dooman, Robert M. Dooman, Robert Dorrell, and Kelli Dorrell; and seven great-grandchildren: Chloe, Benjamin (deceased), David, Darcie, Ella, Colette, and Sage.

Celebration of her life services will be held Friday, November 10th, at 11:00 a.m., St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1347 E. 49th Place, in Tulsa, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, November 9th, from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue, Tulsa.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to the many people who lovingly cared for their mother over the last few years.
