Judith "Judy" Prado, age 85 graduated to heaven Jan. 4, 2020.
Judy was born Dec. 3, 1934 in Barranquilla Colombia to Israel and Carmen Senior. She attended and graduated high school and worked at the Mayor's office in Barranquilla. She was well known in her position for helping the needy. In 1956 she met and married Victor Prado, husband of 63 years. They lived in New York while Victor, US Army veteran, worked as a Merchant Marine on a US flagship, travelling around the world. They reared 5 children in New York and Costa Rica. Judy was known for her hospitality. She enjoyed cooking and having many around her table. Judy enjoyed poetry, she was known for reciting poetry to her family and friends. She shared with her husband a love for canaries and homing pigeons, owning many of the bright yellow canaries, as well as numerous pigeons. The pigeons were regularly taken far from home and released. Often Judy and Victor would write messages to each other and tie these to the bird's legs. Then the birds would fly back home to deliver the funny and/or loving notes to the delight of Judy and Victor.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, son Victor, and three siblings: Magaly, Israel and Jaime.
She is survived by: her children - Gabriel (wife Peggy), Ivette (husband Kevin), Miriam and Arturo; her brother Alfredo and 3 sisters Pauline, Carmen and Grace; as well as four grandchildren – Victor, Nicholas, Vanessa and David and a great granddaughter Sage.
A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2020 11 AM at Fitzgerald's Funeral Services.
