Judy (Schuster) Waters of Jenks, OK passed away on Saturday, August 30 after a long battle with cancer. A funeral mass followed by a reception will be celebrated at St. Bernard's Catholic Church (4001 E 101st St, Tulsa) on September 5th at 2:00. She was the fourth of five children of Richard and Catherine (Welch) Schuster. Judy was born on October 12,1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. Her formative years were spent at St. Theresa's Grade School (K-8) and later at Dowling High School (9-12).
In 1981 Judy married the love of her life, Rod Waters. That same year Judy and Rod moved to Oklahoma. Once in Oklahoma, their union was blessed with two children, daughter, Niki, and son, Ryan. Judy spent many years embracing her role of mother and homemaker. As her children matured, she found employment at Conoco in Research and Development from where she retired in 2016. With Rod's retirement, they relocated to Tulsa where they were welcomed into the community at St. Bernard's. Both were active members of the parish serving in a variety of ministries and forming many important friendships. In addition to their church involvement, Judy was an avid golfer at Meadowbrook Country Club. When her health allowed, she enjoyed volunteering at Catholic Charities food pantry. Judy loved to travel, work puzzles, play games, collect bird figurines, and have new adventures.
While Judy had many friends and interests, her treasures were her children and grandchildren. They vacationed together; helped with the harvest yearly; and attended their grandchildren's activities whenever possible.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Brooks Mittasch and father in law, Daryll Waters. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rod, as well as her two children and their spouses: Niki and Clay Mittasch of Morrison, OK; and Ryan and Mallory Waters of Spring, TX. She leaves behind grandchildren: Austin Mittasch, Sloane Waters, and Reese Waters. Judy is also survived by her siblings: Bill (Julie) Schuster; Tom Schuster; Jane (Jim) Thatcher; and Jacque Schuster, mother in law JoAnne Waters, brother in laws Richard Waters, Kevin Waters and wife Beth, Jeff Waters and wife Sheila, sister in laws Kandace Lallky and husband Stan, Julianne Bernal and husband Chris and lots of nieces and nephews.
