Kathleen Cherry Buffington entered into heaven welcomed by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, January 18, 2018. She reached the fullness of days at the age of 88. She loved the Lord with all of her heart and spent a lifetime ministering his love and his words of life and encouragement to everyone she met. She was a teacher of Spanish and history, and she enjoyed traveling. She was a devoted wife and mother, training her five children in the ways of the Lord. Being a faithful wife and mother and enjoying her grandchildren brought her joy and happiness. She was born in Cone, Texas and lived many other places in Texas, mostly in Crosbyton, Texas. She moved to Tulsa, OK in 1999. She was married to the love of her life, Dr. John D. Cherry, Jr. in 1948 until he went to heaven in 1993. She is survived by four of her five children: Susie Morehouse (Don), John D. Cherry III (Felicia), Elizabeth Ellsworth, and Scott Cherry (Susan). She is also survived by ten grandchildren: Sarah Lees, Anna Cherry, Daniel Ellsworth, Andrew Ellsworth, Thomas Cherry (Ashley), Lydia Goss (Jeff), Will Cherry, Michael Ellsworth (Laurel), John Cherry and Ross Auten and seven great-grandchildren: Dallas Ellsworth, Trey Lees, Ella Kate Lees, Scarlett Lees, Francie Lees, Ross Auten, Jr. and John Auten. Among her loved ones living in heaven now and who extended to her a homecoming welcome with open arms are her husband, John Daniel Cherry, Jr., her daughter, Janet Cherry, and three grandchildren, Rebecca Auten, Aaron Ellsworth, Seth Ellsworth. Kathleen would tell everyone "if you will accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, and repent of your sins I will be waiting to greet you upon your arrival in heaven." The Bible in Acts 4:12 is speaking about Jesus when it says "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
