Obituary

Kathryn Bullinger of Tulsa, OK, passed peacefully from this life, at 99 years old, on April 24, 2026.

Born in Fresno, CA on January 11,1927, she met the love of her life, Theodore F. Bullinger, during World War II at a dance for the military. She knew then that she would marry the handsome soldier and marry him she did on September 5, 1945. They would celebrate 70+ years of marriage before Ted's passing in 2017 at the age of 92.

Kay graduated from St. Mary's High School in Phoenix, Arizona in 1945. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art Education from the University of Tulsa in 1963 and would go on to receive her Master of Science in Trade & Industrial Education from Oklahoma State University in 1985. She was head of the art department for Tulsa Vo-Tech where she developed a program of instructional training for young commercial artists that claimed national attention.

A long-time member of Church of the Madalene in Tulsa, OK, she was a devout Catholic. Whether sewing for "Little Dresses for Africa" with her sister, Rae, or creating beautiful outfits for nights out on the town, she was a n incredible seamstress. She and her husband were active members of the Tulsa Orchid Society and participated in the growing and showing of beautiful orchids. Kay was known to be a prolific and versatile artist of many types of media. She was a member of the Tulsa Artist Guild with her work being shown in many shows here locally and throughout the Southwest. She was a docent for Philbrook Museum and an illustrator of children's books.

She is survived by her daughter Susan (Danny) Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted F. Bullinger in 2017 and her sons, Steven R. Bullinger in 2022 and Ted F. Bullinger III in 2026.

Grammy to nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren, she went above and beyond to make holidays magical and summers memorable. Her influence will live through generations to come.

A funeral Mass will be held for Kay and her son, Ted Bullinger III, on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Church of the Madalene, followed by inurnment for both at Calvary Cemetery with military honors for Ted. A reception will follow at Fitzgerald's family room adjacent to the cemetery. A rosary for both Ted and Kay will be held Friday, May 8 at 7 p.m. at Church of the Madalene, 3188 E. 22nd St., Tulsa.
