Kenneth Wade Floyd, age 82, died on September 24, 2024, in Tulsa, Ok.
Ken was born on April 19, 1942, in Ft. Smith, Ar., to Arthur Harmon (A.H.) Floyd and Ahnawake Hastings Holland Floyd. He graduated from Tulsa Central High School in the class of 1959. Ken was an All-State runner on the Central Braves track and field team.
Ken furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Oklahoma State University. In 1963, he returned to Tulsa and accepted a position as a chemical analyst at Baroid Corporation. After three years at Baroid, Ken enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, and he flew combat helicopters in Vietnam for his 13-month tour receiving many commendations and medals. After he completed his commitment, Ken returned to Tulsa and went to work in the family construction business. To further his military career, he transferred to the Oklahoma Air National Guard and retired after 20 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. He completed his working career as an underwriting agent in the retail automotive industry. Ken was a Man of God, a devoted and active member of All Saints Anglican Church. When he finally retired, he combined his love of gardening and desire to assist others by becoming a Master Gardener through OSU extension program.
Ken was devoted to his family. After family, he loved his church, his beloved Marine Corp, and the Master Gardener program, but probably more than anything he loved those, OSU Cowboys. Go Pokes!
He is survived by his dear friend of over twenty years, Sharon Van Vors, brother Art Floyd and wife Karen, brother Jake Floyd and wife Molly, brother Jim Floyd and wife Kim, brother-n-law Keith Hunt and wife Barbara, of Dallas, Tx., and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, A.H. Floyd and Ahnawake Hastings Holland Floyd, sister Linda Floyd Hunt, and nephew Andy Hunt.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 30, at 11:00 a.m., at All Saints Anglican Church, 4040 E. 91st St., Tulsa, Ok.
