Kerry L. "Skip" Barnes passed away on March 30, 2024. He was 80 years old. Skip was born in San Francisco, CA on November 3, 1943. His fondest childhood memories were of playing little league baseball in Alice, TX where he grew up. Skip graduated from high school in Chandler, AZ in 1962. He then served honorably in the U.S. Naval Reserve, achieving the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class (E-4). During active duty, he served aboard the USS Bonhomme Richard. Skip was a graduate of the 24th Academy for the Corpus Christi [TX] Police Department, after which he served as a patrolman for two years. Skip began a 40-year banking career in Ruston, LA. He then returned to the Corpus Christi area to work at several community banks including American Bank, Northshore Bank (as President & CEO), and Kleberg Bank. Skip was an avid reader and never shied away from a political debate.

Skip is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Barbara Anne Barnes. He is survived by his children: Steve (Heather) Barnes of Atlanta, GA, Debbie Barnes of Granbury, TX, Derek Barnes of Tulsa, OK, and Brandon (Cristina) Barnes of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Donald Reed of Montgomery, AL and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel at 3612 E. 91st St in Tulsa, OK.
