Obituary

After living a full life of 93 years, Laura Edith Beshara passed away on April 16, 2014.   She had suffered an illness the week before, and her health declined until she passed away Wednesday afternoon in the care of her family and the kind Montereau staff.

Laura was born to Charles and Marie Schaefer on August 5, 1920 in St. Louis. Growing up in St. Louis, she remembered her mother feeding the hungry on their front porch and her father blending his own beer. It was there she met her husband, Edward Beshara. The two were married in the St. Louis Cathedral on January 24, 1942.

Laura and Ed moved to Tulsa, where she kept the books in order for Ed's clothing store. They were both active card players, Laura being the better of the two. Together with Jim and Peggy Nelson, they frequented Las Vegas and enjoyed golfing at Cedar Ridge. Laura, sometimes called "Giggles", was quiet, but had a subtle, yet sharp, sense of humor that seemed to match her red hair. She counterbalanced Ed perfectly. They were devoted to one another in marriage for over sixty years, until Ed passed away in 2007.

Together they brought three daughters and a son into the world; Joanne Goff, Marian Davis, Margo Dunbar, and Edward Beshara, Jr. When Laura died on Wednesday, she left behind her four children, along with ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. We are so grateful to Laura for our lives and grateful to God for the time we had with her.   Confident that she has joined Ed again, we celebrate the 93 years of life that Laura brought into this world.
