It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our cherished Laura following a brief illness. Laura was born November 1st, 1959 in Cedar Rapids, lowa. She is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Sara Jane Kane. She lived in California and Florida before settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she graduated from Edison High School class of 1977. Most recently she was employed by Woodcraft of Tulsa, where she served as store manager.

To those who knew Laura well, she was intensely loyal and deeply compassionate. She always looked you straight in the eyes and you could count on an honest expression of her thoughts and feelings. She was ever the champion of the underdog, using her strong character to oppose oppression and bullying. She was a people person and extremely popular with her customers at work, where she developed strong friendships. She knew how to be a good friend. As a result, Laura was blessed with many long time close friendships, as far back as high school.

Laura was a born again Christian and an active member of Asbury Church in Tulsa, where she sang in the choir. It was her faith in Jesus that gave her courage and peace as she faced her own death. Few people exhibit the bravery that Laura did in her last hours. On the morning of her passing, the doctor came in and explained her prognosis. She Immediately sat up straight in bed and replied "Ok, Let's do this then." From that moment, she marched forward without hesitation, or ever questioning her own resolve, right up to death's door and through it like a hero. She died just a few hours later surrounded by her loving family.

Laura's passing leaves a big hole in our hearts, but the way she handled it serves as an example of true courage and faith. She is survived by her brother Greg, sister Tamara (Allan), niece Tabitha, nephew Justin (Kalyn), niece Rebecca (Tate), niece Alex, nephew Chris, great nephews Kadem and Axel, and last but not least her loving dog Kiki.

Viewing is scheduled Thursday August 20th at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel 6-8pm.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, August 21st at 11am at Asbury Church Chapel with a reception to follow.
