Obituary
Dr. Laurence Patterson McElwaine, 92, born in Tulsa, November 30, 1920 to Laurence W. McElwaine and Stella Chastain McElwaine, died December 30, 2012.
A graduate of Central High School, OU, and Northwestern Dental School, Dr. McElwaine served in the US Navy during World War II and retired from the Naval Reserves. Dr. McElwaine practiced in Tulsa for over 60 years and was a lifetime member of the American, Oklahoma and Tulsa County Dental Associations. He loved sailing, music and golfing. Dr. McElwaine was a member of Holy Family Cathedral and the former Immaculate Conception Parish in Tulsa.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia, and 10 children: Michael McElwaine, Michel Warner (Dennis), Larry McElwaine, Robert McElwaine (Kathleen), Ginny Rohr (Joe), Karen Franklin (David), Mary Roszel (Rik), Annette McNamara (Tom), Donna McGuire (Russ), Suzy Bringaze (David), 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. McElwaine's honor may be made to Catholic Charities, PO Box 580460, Tulsa, OK 74158.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, 1:30 p.m., at Holy Family Cathedral. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
