Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Lavanda Irene Johnson, age 90. She died on May 30th, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She is known to her family as "mom", "sis", "aunt Lavanda", "grandma", and "grandma with the lipstick". She was a loving and selfless mother to four girls. She was born on November 24th, 1932, to William and Gladys Whipkey in Fairland, Oklahoma. She graduated from Picher High School in 1950 and went on to attend NEO A&M. She later received her bachelor's degree from Barry College in Miami, Florida. She grew up in Picher, Oklahoma, married, and lived in Miami, Oklahoma. She later moved to Tulsa, then Key Biscayne, Florida, in 1975, and finally moved back home to Tulsa in 1987 to be near family and friends. Lavanda's most sincere desire throughout her life was that her four daughters find true happiness, regardless of the path each child chose. She loved her family well and enjoyed playing tennis and bridge with her friends. She leaves a great legacy and will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughters: Kathy Yates and her husband Larry of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Kristi Trimble and her husband Randy of Tucson, Arizona; Julie Larkin of Atlanta, Georgia; Jamie Wright and her husband Tim of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and her grandchildren: Ashley Dellegar and her husband Kevin; Christopher Trimble and his wife Vanessa; Patrick Trimble and his wife Kelly; Brett, Samantha, and Trey Larkin; Shelby Burris and her husband Nathan; Austin Wright and his wife Drew; and ten great-grandchildren plus one due in July. She is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Watson and Lou Ann Elliott, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Gladys Whipkey; her brother, Bill Whipkey Jr.; and her twin children, Stephanie and Steven Klinefelter.
