LaVina was born on Easter, April 10th, 1966 in Fort Hood, Texas, to parents Troy Vernon Gwin and Sue Ann Christine Shadrick Gwin. She grew up in a military family, and was very proud and thankful for her dad's 22 years of service in the US Army. Growing up a "military brat" brought her to live in various military bases around the world, which were full of "fun and adventures," ranging from Fort Sill, OK, Menden, Germany and Fort Ord in Monterey Cali.. She later lived in Southern Oklahoma, Gainesville, TX, and Arnold, MO. In December 1981 she became a mother to a son, and then in September of 1985 a daughter. By 1993 they made their home in Tulsa, OK. LaVina graduated from Nathan Hale High School with her GED in 1994.She worked various jobs over the years with her favorites being an Elevator Lift Operator for Manhattan Construction, a Private Home Health Care Aid and she even founded her own business, Constructive Cleaning Solutions in the mid 1990's. She also co-owned another construction company at that time as well, WWD Construction. Bunny loved being able to pay it forward in various ways with her favorite being volunteer work at the Oklahoma Aquarium in 2003 as a docent. Bunny gave her life to Christ and was baptized in 2005 at Red Fork Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing frisbee, being at the lake and just sitting outside having a hot cup of coffee or a big glass of sweet tea. Her favorite past times were full of family, loved ones and oftentimes she was the dedicated hostess and chef for holidays and get-togethers. She overcame many challenges even as a young girl, all of which led her to become a resilient and persistent woman. She was a single mom for many years and very resourceful. She could take on most any home improvement project herself. When she fell down she would get back up and go after another goal or dream. She always said raising her children was her biggest life achievement, and what she was most proud of. Beyond her own two kids, Bunny was a mom to many and often opened her heart and home to various friends and family members that needed a hand up. She was her best self when she was caring for others. She was playful and rarely took life too seriously, she loved to laugh, and had a heart that loved big. She encouraged those around her to dream big, work hard, but to also prioritize family and keep God first. Her laugh would light up the darkest room. She loved rock-n-roll, smooth jazz, and cleaning house every Sunday morning. Her family and friends will always remember her as a person with so much love to give.
She is survived by...her son, Brandon Gwin and wife Sarah, daughter, Nichole Walker and husband Chris, 6 grandchildren: Sarah, Parker, Patton, Kennedy, Morgan, and Phenli. She also leaves behind her brother, Jimmy Gwin and sister, Melissa Gwin, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
