Lawrence Jacobs was born on January 6, 1942 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was educated in Tulsa and graduated from Edison High School class of 1960. He passed away at home on February 18, 2019 of natural causes.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in business in 1964. He then attended graduate school at OU before attending OU medical school, graduating in 1969. He then went on to the University of Rochester in NY for his residency before completing his fellowship at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla. He opened his practice in Rheumatology in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1974 and continued to serve until 2016.
Motivated for education in his profession and with a deep inspiration for teaching peers and prospective physicians; and had a lifelong dedication to helping others. Friends, colleagues, and patients would describe him as the kindest, most caring, gentlemanly physician with which they had an association.
Survived by his loving wife, Bonnie of 28 years, sister, Rosalind and brother-in-law Tony Quigley. Sons Bradley, David, Michael and Benjamin Jacobs, Randall and Edward Fletcher and spouses; Eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, peers, and patients.
