Leonide H. "Lee" Veale, 104, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. She was born in San Francisco, California, July 28, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Sara Baraty. Lee attended several universities but was unable to finish her degree because World War II began. At the last minute, Lee was able to attend a dance for Navy seamen, where she met Eugene "Gene". They danced "all night" and fell in love. They married in 1946, in San Francisco.
After moving to Tulsa, Lee was active at Church of St. Mary. She was a lifetime member of Tout Le Monde Club and volunteered with United Way. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, and celebrating with her family, especially steak dinners. Lee was celebrated as a "Golden Okie" and Centenarian of Oklahoma in 2018.
Lee is predeceased by her parents, and her children, Nicholas Veale and Karen Roberts. She is survived by grandchildren, Sara and her husband, Jeremy Alexander, and Richard Michael Eugene Roberts; and great-grandchildren, Paisley Alexander, Keaton Alexander and Devin Roberts.
Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at 10:30 a.m., at Church of St. Mary, in Tulsa. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
