Leslie Markman, born Leslie Troeger on May 4th, 1977, in Lindsborg, Kansas, passed away on March 20th, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the beloved wife of Andrew Markman and devoted mother to Sophie Markman. Leslie was the daughter of Sally and the late Lannie Troeger, and sister to Megan Ryan.
Leslie's life was a testament to resilience, passion, and dedication. Raised as a farmer's daughter in rural central Kansas, Leslie excelled in academics and music, particularly as a talented pianist. After graduating from high school, she ventured to California, where fate led her to meet her future husband. Leslie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cal State Northridge before returning to her hometown to marry Andrew.
Settling in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Leslie discovered her passion for Tae Kwon Do, a journey that saw her ascend to the rank of a 3rd Degree Black Belt; only months away from achieving rank of Master. Even during her pregnancy, Leslie remained committed to her fitness journey demonstrating remarkable determination by breaking boards and earning awards until she went into labor.
Leslie's love for Tae Kwon Do extended beyond personal achievement; she became an instructor at Golden Dragon and recently attained certification as a personal trainer, harboring dreams of one day opening her own gym. Her dedication to fitness inspired many, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
In addition to her pursuits in martial arts and fitness, Leslie was actively involved in her daughter's school and synagogue, embodying the values of service and community. Her sudden departure has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew her, and her memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to have been touched by her kindness, determination, and warmth.
A memorial service to honor Leslie's life will be held at Congregation B'nai
Emunah, 1719 S Owasso Ave, Tulsa, OK 74120, at 11:00 am on Friday, March 29th.
