Leta Mae (Holt) Anderson passed from this world on February 2, 2014. Leta was born in Harrison, Arkansas on February 24, 1930 to Nell and James Pelam Holt. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years Charles Anderson, son Clifton Anderson and sister Jimmie Lee Hurd. She is survived by her daughter Leigh Romanello (husband Mike) of Tulsa, two sons Sam Anderson of Fort Worth, Texas, and Roy Anderson (wife Adrienne) of North Richland Hills, Texas, six grandchildren: Tony Romanello (wife Julianne), Benjamin Anderson, Jamie Anderson, Charlie Anderson, Julia Anderson, Cody Anderson, sister-in-law Donna VanMeighem, daughters-in-law Eva Anderson and Mellissa Barnes, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Leta moved to Tulsa with her family in 1944. She graduated from Marquette High School in 1948. She remained close to her high school friends and looked forward to their monthly get-togethers for bridge/luncheon. To family and close friends, she had always been known as "Tootie", a nickname she carried since early childhood. After graduation, she was employed at Amerada Oil Company for four years until she met her husband Charley and started her family.
She was a loving mother, always there for her family. She took an active interest in all their school activities, participating in scouting, little league baseball, homeroom mother and every activity in which her children were involved.
After her children were grown, Leta returned to the workplace and retired from MAPCO in 1998. She continued to remain close to her MAPCO friends and enjoyed meeting them for lunch once a month. Leta and her husband enjoyed tennis, sailing, picnics, and overnight campouts with family and friends. They were active members of the Grand Lake Sailing Club in Grove, Oklahoma. After her husband's death, she returned to the workplace and was employed by St. Gregory's University in Tulsa for over a year. Not long after that, Leta went to work for the City of Tulsa until her final retirement. She often remarked about how much she enjoyed her work and all the friends she had made throughout her employment history. Her faith, family and friends were very dear to her. Leta was a charter member of the Church of Saint Mary, where she served as Eucharistic Minister, volunteered on several church committees such as RCIA and Justice and Peace committee, and helped with funeral dinners.
The family would like to thank the fine people who helped her in her final years at Heatheridge Assisted Living and Leisure Village Nursing Home. They would also like to thank the compassionate medical team at St. John's Hospital for all their assistance.
A Rosary will be held, Tuesday, 7:00 p.m., and Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, 10:00 a.m., both at the Church of Saint Mary, 1347 East 49th Place, Tulsa. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
