Linda Carpenter Maddox-Smith, 61, a resident of Chouteau, Oklahoma, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 after finding out less than a month ago she had cancer. She was surrounded by her siblings just a few hours before she passed away - her three sisters, Connie Carpenter Snow, Dana Carpenter Krauss, and Kelly Carpenter-Kendall, and her brother, Mark Carpenter.
She was born on March 30, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to James Henry Carpenter (Pharmacist) and Rosella Paulik Carpenter (X-ray/ultrasound technician) who preceded her in death, as well as her husband Richard "Bo" Smith and her son Billy Clyde McCall.
Linda is survived by her three children, Brandon Maddox, Stephanie Edler, and Brittany Turner, her step children, Rick Smith and Summer Smith her numerous sweet grandkids, nieces and nephews.
After attending high school at Bishop Kelley, Linda lived in many different states, as her kids' dad was in the Navy and they'd get stationed at different places. She lived in California, Virginia, Hawaii, and Key West, Florida before returning home to Oklahoma. Her favorite thing to do was go fishing on Lake Ft. Gibson, where she lived with Bo. They'd celebrate their catch with tailgating fish fries with the community of friends she had at Lake Crest. She was quick-witted and had a great sense of humor, she was an inspiration as she was accepting of all people, made everyone her friend and loved everyone who knew her. Her love for her husband, family and friends were hallmarks of her journey that gave her strength and great joy. She loved all animals, especially her dogs. Linda was deeply loved by her family and held many long sustaining friendships.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, May 24th 10:00 am at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel
