Obituary

Linda Kay Williams was born on June 12, 1947 in Cody, Wyoming to Rex and Patsy Williams. Linda attended Monte Cassino grade school and high school in Tulsa where she was a cheerleader and the 1964 Cascia Hall Homecoming Queen. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a lifelong Razorback fan. She pledged Pi Beta Phi and loved every minute of sorority and college life at Arkansas.

Linda received her Bachelor of Arts in Education and her first teaching job was as an English teacher at Tulsa Central High School. Since she had just graduated from college, Linda wasn't much older than the seniors in her class. As you can imagine, she was a very popular young teacher.

After leaving Central, Linda was the director of the National Child Care Center, a daycare and preschool program at 71st and Yale. She really excelled as a director and administrator. Eventually Linda went back to teaching and spent many years as an English teacher at Wilson Middle School. After retiring, Linda traveled to places that she had talked about and enjoyed more time with friends and family.

Later in life, Linda had mobility issues related to radiation treatments she received thirty years ago. She moved to assisted living but she didn't let that deter her. She was involved in activities and loved visits from family and friends. She participated in every holiday party and particularly liked to dress up for Halloween. She knew everyone's name and of course, they all knew Linda.

Linda was proceeded in death by her parents, Patsy and Rex Williams. She is survived by her daughter Shannon Mootry (Jason) and granddaughters Cortney Dill and Addison Mootry, step-grandson, Hunter Mootry, sister Nancy Moore (Bob), brothers Keith Williams and Scott Williams (Zan), nephews (and "favorite godson") John Tidwell (Courtnie), David Tidwell (Emily), Grant Williams (Valerie), nieces Lindsay Williams and Cortlin Williams.

Linda's greatest joy in life was her daughter, Shannon, and her granddaughters Cortney and Addison. She loved them beyond words, was so proud of them and delighted in their times spent together. Linda was beautiful inside and out and was always up for any adventure. She was very gregarious and made friends wherever she went. She was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague and will be missed by so many.
