Obituary

Jane Willis peacefully went to be with her Lord Sunday, November 21, 2010. She was born Lola Jane Newton to Richard Malvern and Lola Jane (Baucum) Newton on April 29, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia. During her growing up years, her father's work moved the family to North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida and Alabama. She attended Howard College (now Samford) in Birmingham, Alabama, for 1 year before marrying her sweetheart, Arthur David Willis, in 1952. After several years in the Atlanta area, A.D.'s business transferred them to Florida, New York, Indiana, and Connecticut. Throughout their 26 years of happy marriage and raising their family together, the couple enjoyed dancing, bridge, entertaining, and involvement with their church. When her beloved A.D. passed away in 1978, Jane relocated again to Florida until moving to Oklahoma in 1986.

During her lifetime, Jane passionately pursued a love of creating beautiful things. She studied interior decorating, oil painting (which she later taught for 12 years), floral design, history (obtaining an associates degree in 1985), and art history. She was an avid reader and tennis player, excellent cook, and skilled seamstress. Her enjoyment of travel took her to many European countries as well as Israel, Canada, and the Caribbean. For a number of years, she owned and operated an historical dollhouse museum. The Lord's Little House of Miniatures, which she began in Florida and then moved to Tulsa.

Jane was preceded in death by her husband, as mentioned, 3 infant sons, and, sister, Anne Bohannen. She is survived by 3 children; Donna Anderson and Richard David Willis of Tulsa, and Dorian Thomas of Pompano Beach, Florida; 6 granddaughters; Rachel Brewer, Rebekah Anderson, Lisa Ensor, and Laney Anderson of Tulsa, and Christa and Courtney Thomas of Florida; as well as 3 great-grandchildren in Tulsa, and another sister, Pat Fehlman of North Canton, Ohio. Jane will be missed and lovingly remembered by many. Visitation hours will be from 6-8pm on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at 10:30am in the University Village Theater, 8555 South Lewis.
