LORA JANE LICHTENHAHN MEADOWS
Lora Jane Meadows unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Lora was born on February 17, 1934 in Junction City, Kansas. She grew up in New Mexico and lived in several cities; Hatch, Madrid, Alamogordo, Los Cruces, Belen and Albuquerque. She married Troy Meadows Jr. in Alamogordo, New Mexico on Thanksgiving, November 25, 1954. After several years in New Mexico, they settled in Texas where they raised their four children.
Lora was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt to a large extended family. She was devoted to her family and friends and will be deeply missed. Lora loved time with her family, from helping her brother to achieve his Eagle Scout badge as a youth, to helping her children through life lessons, helping her grandchildren with homework and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time at home and working in her yard. She enjoyed hours working on puzzles, playing board games, card games, Yahtzee and visiting. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed cooking for her family, especially enchiladas, frijoles, flour tortillas and fried corn chips. She had a huge heart and took time to care for anyone that came into her life. Lora was also an avid sports fan and loved the Texas Aggies, OKC Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys.
Lora was preceded in death by her father, William Preston Lichtenhahn; her mother, Octa Marie Lichtenhahn; and brother, Robert Preston Lichtenhahn. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Troy Meadows, and her four children and their families: Robert Preston Meadows; Tori Marie Snyder and her husband, John S. Snyder; Jana Patrice Cross and her husband, James R. Cross; Mark William Meadows and his wife, Susan S. Meadows. She is survived by her beloved twelve grandchildren: Preston D. Meadows, Hailey E. Meadows, Austin R. Meadows, Audrey R. Meadows, Adelaide R. Meadows, Macy Snyder Amatucci and husband John, Kellner Snyder Siegfried and husband Bailey, Shelby Snyder Hendrick and husband Justin, Tyler W. Cross and fiance Christine, J. Connor Cross, Lauren Meadows Hohlt and husband Andrew, and Samantha L. Meadows; and nine great-grandchildren: London Hadley Siegfried, Roie Cope Siegfried, Badin Bailey Joseph Siegfried Jr., Sayers Cawrdaf Siegfried, Bexley Marie Amatucci, Aston John Amatucci, Armand Richard Amatucci, Halls Tori Hendrick, and Baby Hohlt due in July.
A graveside service will be held at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Hatch, New Mexico for family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in her name, to MD Anderson Hospital, or the organization of your choice.
The family would like to thank everyone involved with the care of Lora, including the 911 operator, firefighters, EMS and especially Dr. Brown and the staff at St. John Hospital. We would also like to thank Fitzgerald Ivy Funeral Home for all their assistance with the funeral arrangements.
