Long time Tulsa resident, Lorena Sublett, (originally of Owensboro, Kentucky), passed from this life peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 22, 2023. She was 100 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John W. Sublett, who passed away in 1990, and by her son, John, Jr., who died in 1982. Also predeceasing her are her parents, Charles Oscar (C. O.) Payne and Bernice Hamilton Payne, her two older brothers, Robert and Richard Payne, and her younger brother, Maurice Payne, all of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Lorena leaves her nine surviving children, 5 sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren: son, Charles (wife, Julia) and granddaughter, Libby (husband, Nick); daughter, Debara McCoy (husband, John, recently deceased), and grandchildren, Loren and Cody; daughter, Chere Sublett; daughter, Mece Eller (husband, Phil) and granddaughter, Kristen DeBoer (husband, Josh) and great grandchildren, Roman and Perry, granddaughter, Jennifer and grandson, Philip, Jr. (wife, Robinne) and great grandson, Philip, III; son, Clay (wife, Jennifer) and grandchildren, Abby and Jack; son, Windol (Payne); daughter, Pennie (husband, Julius) and granddaughter, Nicole; son, Todd (wife, Melissa) and granddaughters, Isabelle Aston (husband, Steven)and Gabrielle; and son, Brett (partner, Liane). Lorena is also survived by her youngest brother, William "Bill" Payne, of Owensboro, KY.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the John 3:16 Mission or the American Heart Association. The family would like to personally thank the wonderful caregivers for their dedicated care and compassion for our mother.


Arrangements through Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 26th, from 5pm to 8pm, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, at 11am, on Friday, October 27th.
