Obituary

Lorenzo C. Vann began an intriguing life's path on March 11, 1930, born to Cooley and Vera Vann in Tulsa, OK.  He graduated from St. Monica Catholic School in 1948. Mr. Vann was very active in his community; he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Peter Clavers and the Tulsa Historical Society. Lorenzo was known as father to many and raised three children Benito West, Jackie West and Michelle Hodge.  He married the love of his life, Lanetta Hicks in 1983.

The things he loved most were bowling, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and his church.

Lorenzo served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged in 1953, Lorenzo worked as a bartender at The Tulsa Club, where he met and was known by many.  During his tenure at the Tulsa Club, he was befriended by Ray Siegfried and was offered employment.

With Lorenzo's wit and many talents he began his life-long future with Robert M. and Betty Siegfried.  Lorenzo wore many hats and was known to the family as chief, cook, chauffer, bartender, pool side lifeguard, babysitter, and lake-attendant, extraordinaire.  As a part of the Siegfried family, he witnessed a great deal of insider Tulsa history.  His vital contributions to the rearing of the Siegfried children (Diane, Ray, Robin, Celeste, and Rick) were varied and substantial from disciplinarian to wise adviser and confidant. Lorenzo was a well-rounded, multi-talented, well-known, and mentor to many; he was beloved.  He is sorely missed and irreplaceable, even now.

He will always be remembered for his ribs and tenderloin.

On September 9th 2014, Lorenzo C. Vann was called to rest. Those who preceded him in death are parents: Cooley Vann and Vera Marshall; and his siblings, Ronnie Vann, Donnie Vann, Obie Vann, Elmer Vann, Glenn Vann, Dolores Vann and Robert Vann.

He leaves to cherish his legacy: his wife Lanetta Vann; three children, Benito West, Jackie West and Michelle Hodge; two brothers, Luther Vann and wife Loraine, Walter Vann and wife Laura; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
