Our dear mother, Loretta Mae Greer Wright, 97, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at her residence in Montereau, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Loretta was born on February 4, 1918 to Esther Whalen and Clarence Greer in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. She graduated high school at Monte Casino School and attended the University of Texas where she was a member of the Alpha Theta Chapter of the Eta Upsilon Gamma sorority. A veteran, Loretta was a Private in the WAC 201st AAF Base Unit and was honorably discharged after her service in 1945. She later worked in city government as the secretary to Tulsa Mayor, George Norvell, until her marriage to our father, Harry Hollis Wright in 1958. An avid bridge player, Loretta played for many years in the Christ the King bridge circle.
Loretta is survived by her three loving daughters and their families: Cecilia Springs Thomsen and Wayde F. Thomsen of Gridley, Kansas; Teresa Wright Marianos and Mark Pete Marianos of Keller, Texas and Monica Wright and Lisa Allison of Tulsa, Oklahoma; five wonderful grandchildren and one precious great grand-daughter. She is pre-deceased by her husband, Harry Hollis Wright, her sister Ollie Marie Greer and brother, Clarence Raymond Greer.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, February 4th at 7 pm in the chapel at Montereau. The funeral will be held at Holy Family Cathedral on Friday afternoon, 1:00 pm February 5th.
