Lucilo R. Roman, M.D., 79, died at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK on September 14, 2011. He was born on October 31, 1931 in Metro Manila, Philippines. He graduated as high school Valedictorian and was admitted as an entrance scholar to the University of the Philippines (U.P.) and as an entrance scholar to the U.P. College of Medicine, graduating with an M.D. degree in 1955. He taught Pharmacology in the U.P. College of Medicine and was sent on a fellowship in Pharmacology to Emory University in Atlanta Georgia in 1965. After his return to U.P. he decided to immigrate with his family to the U.S. in 1969. He went into Family Practice and practiced in Albany, NY until his retirement in 2000. He was a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice. He and his wife moved in 2004 to Tulsa, OK where their son Emmanuel lived. He was a Life Member of the U.P. Medical Alumni Society and the U.P. Medical Alumni Society in America (UPMASA). He was also a member of the Philippine Medical Association of Oklahoma (PMAO) and the Filipino-American associations in Albany, NY and Tulsa, OK. He served as secretary in the Legion of Mary and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in the Philippines. In the U.S. he was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Pius X Church in Albany, NY, Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Francis Chapel in Albany, NY, Lector at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Tulsa and Lector at the Franciscan Villa in Broken Arrow, OK. He also served as a pianist and member of the Filipino Choir at St. Bernard of Clairvaux church. He is survived by son, Dr. Jose L. Roman; daughter-in-law, Maria Concepcion Reyes Roman; grandsons, Christian Justyn (CJ) and Jasper Christopher (JC) from Ocala, FL; son, Dr. Emmanuel J. Roman; daughter-in-law, Dr. Divina Lucas Roman; grandsons, Darwin Luke, Darryl Lloyd and Dominic Lyle from Tulsa; sisters, Anita Roman, Estelita Roman Belza and Herenia Roman from the Philippines; brother, Manuel Roman, Jr.; sister-in-law, Leticia uson Roman from Jersey City, NJ; brother, Jorge Roman; sister-in-law, Victoria Garcia Roman from Greenfield, MA. He is also survived by many loving cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his wife of fifty years, Remedios Sanchez Roman; his parents, Manuel Roman, Sr. and Lutgarda Reyes Roman from the Philippines; and grandson Derick Lance from Tulsa. Rosary and musical memorial service: St. Bernard's, 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 16, 2011. Funeral Mass: St Bernard's, 4001 East 101st Street, Tulsa, OK at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2011. Interment: Calvary Cemetery, 9101 South Harvard, Tulsa, OK 74137 followed by reception at St. Bernard's Church.
