On December 20th our dear husband, father and friend, Malek Elkhoury departed this world after a four-week battle with pneumonia and related complications. Malek faced this fight with the same boldness and vigor as he faced every situation in his life. After serving 2 years in the Christian army, Malek left his home town of Beirut, Lebanon to find a new life in America. He proudly became an American citizen in 1995, while maintaining his beloved country's citizenship as well. His uncle, George Rahme, sponsored his move to Oklahoma and supported his journey toward an eventual master's degree in Civil Engineering through Oklahoma State University. He landed his first job at the architectural firm of HNTB, later moved to BSW, and finally incorporated Khoury Engineering, which he has successfully operated for almost twenty years.
Malek was a loving father to his three surviving children; Elizabeth, 22, Elias, 19, and Sarah, 12. He had just celebrated the 25th anniversary with his wife Judy several months before. He will be greatly missed by his family here and all of his immediate family still in Lebanon; his mother, Helene, his brother Jacques Khoury's family, his sister Laure Khoury's family, and his youngest sister, Jocelyn. Malek lived life "big" and had many friends who will miss his gregarious and ornery personality. We thank all of our dear friends and family for the many prayers and sacrifices offered for Malek's healing. We are joyful with the knowledge that those same prayers will pave him a golden path to our Lord and Lady in heaven. Friends can honor Malek's memory by sending contributions to his family in Lebanon, in c/o wife Judy.
