Obituary

Margaret Spang Collins, who preferred to be known as Mrs. H. Davisson Collins, died Friday, October 22, at her home in Tulsa.  She was born July 8, 1911 in Butler, Pennsylvania to Ferdinand Josiah and Loretta Strance Spang.  She attended Mrs. Bixby's School in St. Petersburg, Florida, the Cincinnati Conservatory in Cincinnati and the University of Oklahoma at Norman.  She married her husband on June 3, 1936.  Mr. and Mrs. Collins were independent oil drillers in Oklahoma and Ohio and never spent a night apart in their 55 years of marriage.  They were some of the earliest members of Southern Hills, as well as the Petroleum Club, the Summit  Club, First Methodist Church and the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and many other social and civic organizations.  Margie, as her friends called her, continued her involvement in the community as a Trustee of Hillcrest Hospital Foundation, was involved in the Scottish Rite Educational Summer Program for Reading, the Tulsa Boys Home, the Presidents Council of the Tulsa Opera, and enjoyed and supported OETA.  Above all, she loved people and was involved in their lives and believed that that was the the best way to give, personally.  She will be sorely missed by her many friends, as well as her sister, Lillian Rath, and her many nieces and nephews throughout the country.  If friends would like to make donations they should send them to OETA (Oklahoma Public Television).  OETA, P.O. Box 14190, Oklahoma City, OK  73113.
