Obituary

Margaret "Margie" Joy Cremin
12/14/1941-12/23/2024

"I thought I could describe a state; make a map of sorrow. Sorrow, however, turns out to be not a state but a process" C. S. Lewis, A Grief Observed.

Margaret Joy Cremin was born December 14th, 1941, in El Paso, Texas, to Hazel Belle and Neal White. Margie later moved to Sand Springs with her mother, sister Elizabeth, brother Charles, and their baby sister LaForest. She graduated from Charles Page High School and went on to College at the University of Tulsa. There she met Pat Cremin before she went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts. She joined the workforce with the William's Company and was said to have really loved her job along with her coworkers. She and Pat were soon married and she "brought home the bacon" while Pat attended Law School full-time at TU. After Pat graduated from law school, he and Margie really wanted to start a family, but things were not quite working out that way. Soon they investigated adoption and a beautiful answer to their prayers came along named Catherine Elizabeth. Only to be followed by news that they would be welcoming a lively little fella named Brian O'Day.

Margie left one career for another, becoming a full-time mom and homemaker. She excelled of course, loving every day of that. Margie and Pat raised the kids and had many wonderful times along with friends and family throughout the years. They were gifted grandchildren, eventually, and the joy and love for those grandchildren was undeniable. Margie was practical, honest, and could be very tough when needed. Her middle name "Joy" was exactly what people felt when she laughed or smiled. She was a runner for years and loved horseback riding with her children when they were young.

Unfortunately, there were many tragedies throughout her time, and she had great loss. Her father left his family for the west and never returned. Margie attempted for many years to maintain any possible relationship she could with him but was always met with heartbreak. She lost her little brother at a young age to a hunting accident, and she, along with her sister Elizabeth, had to step up and take care of their young sister LaForest, as their mother worked full-time to support the family. Margie and Pat lost their son Brian in August of 2009 and their daughter Catherine in June of 2018, both to sickness. The family suffered another great loss when Pat passed away unexpectedly in February of 2019. Though Margie was loved by all, she never was the same, and who could judge her, she had lost her children and her husband of over fifty years.

Margie exclaimed to her sister LaForest, in recent conversation, "I am no longer mad at God". She began receiving Holy Communion at her home after she stopped leaving the house. She departed this world for the next at Hillcrest Medical Center, on December 23rd of 2024, with her sister LaForest at her bedside, at approximately 7 PM. Her family is whole again.

Margie is preceded in death by her mother Hazel Belle White, brother Charles White, son Brian O'Day, Daughter Catherine Elizabeth and husband Pat Cremin.

Margie is survived by her grandchildren, Asia, Atticus, Solomon, Gideon, and Tristyn; her sisters, LaForest Lee of Sand Springs and Elizabeth Long of Lexington Kentucky; nephews, Johnny and Scott (LaForest's boys) and Lance, Linden and Loren (Liz's boys), and their perspective families.
