Obituary

Margaret C. Deer, age 94, was born April 2, 1921 in Harrisburg, PA and died July 3, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Peter and Annie (Marino) Christmas.

Margaret graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg. After high school she was a secretary at the Naval Supply Depot in Mechanicsburg, PA where she met Lt. Zenas Bartlett "Zobo" Deer, Jr. They married January 12, 1946 at the Philadelphia Naval Yard Chapel and lived in Kingsville, TX, Pampa TX, and Amarillo, TX prior to making their home in Tulsa, OK in 1961.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, parents and two brothers, John Christmas and Ernie Christmas and one sister, Ruth Christmas.

She is survived by her daughter, Mardeen Olmstead and her husband Randy, grandson Jeff Olmstead and wife Summer of Dallas, TX, granddaughter Ann Olmstead Weber and husband John of Tulsa, and six great grandchildren: Allie Rose, Charlie, Jeb and JW Olmstead and Brody and Matthew Weber. She is also survived by a sister, Geraldine Burigana and husband Enus, nephew Steve Burigana and wife Gail, niece Barbara Sentz and husband Shawn, all of Columbus, Ohio and niece Nancy Stoia and husband Michael of Sugar Land, TX.

In addition to her immediate family, Margaret was very close to her husband's family, who always treated her as their own family. They are Sara and Robert Johnston of Victoria, TX and their children Bill Johnston, Sara Lane Dotter – to whom she was Godmother, Bobby Johnston and Stuart Johnston, as well as their spouses and children. She was also very close to friends Bill and Gigi Haddock who always offered love, help and support.

Margaret was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church where she served on Altar Guild. She served on the St. Francis Auxiliary as a Volunteer and various Tulsa charities. She enjoyed writing poems, needlepoint and telling jokes at her singing group, Tulsa Choraliers.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday July 7, 2015 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 4200 South Atlanta Place, Tulsa, OK 74105. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Church.
