Margaret Gilbert Ferrell, 53, passed away on August 12 at her home surrounded by loving family and friends.
Margaret Ferrell encompassed it all: a wonderful mother, wife, and friend. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, kindheartedness, and understanding and never failed to fill a room full of smiles and uncontrollable laughter. When asked what advice she wanted to leave behind, she responded by saying, "Always be kind and respectful to others. Everyone deserves a great hello." This was shown by Margaret each and every day to loved ones, friends, and strangers alike.
The impact she had on others is incomprehensible and will be greatly missed by her husband Lloyd Fadem, and her daughters, Lauren Ferrell, Annaly Ferrell, Rosie Ferrell, and Evan Fadem. Her love for design, creativity, and travel and an eye for the beautiful things in life shall always be held close to the hearts of people that knew her. Her doctors said that in all of their years of practice, Margaret was the first patient to always, without fail, have a smile on her face walking in and out of chemotherapy treatments. The greatest lesson that we learned from Margaret is to face life with an attitude of thanksgiving and gratitude—the epitome of living a fruitful life. This positivity allowed her to live as long as she did despite the odds against her, a true miracle that allowed Margaret to embody a motherhood full of love and sacrifice. Her parents, Susan Gilbert and Warren and Ruth Ann Gilbert, and her four siblings, Norman Gilbert, Charles Gilbert, Annalea Flam, and Michael Gilbert, are responsible for instilling the wonderful values for what Margaret was known. Only lighthearted and beautiful memories will be remembered.
A memorial service will be held at St. Rita Chapel on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. on the campus of Cascia Hall, 2520 S. Yorktown Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma. In honor of Margaret's colorful spirit, her daughters would like to consider this a celebration of her life and have requested that everyone come dressed in colorful clothing. A reception to follow at Cascia Hall. It was Margaret's wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center:
