Margaret L. Golliver, 87, went to be with
the Lord on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. She
was born January 21, 1923, in Tulsa, OK to
Vera and Frederick Lopp. After her father's
death when she was a child, her mother
singly raised her and her sisters, Mary
Jane, Betty, and Vera "Freddie" and her
brother, John during the Great Depression.
She graduated from Tulsa Central in 1940,
and shortly thereafter began her working
career at McDonald Douglas airplane factory
helping to build the B-24 bombers.
There she met her future husband, Verlyn
A. Golliver. They were married in her childhood
home in Tulsa on July 28, 1946, and
a few years later had 2 sons, Robert and
Thomas. She worked for several companies,
including Sinclair Oil and American
Airlines where she was employed for 29
years until her retirement in 1991. She loved
to travel, play tennis, cook, and spend time
with her grandchildren. She was long time
member of Third Church of Christ Scientist
and most recently Sixth Church. She was
preceded in death by Verlyn, her husband
of 61 years and her sisters, Mary Jane Lopp
and Betty Bleigh. She is survived by: two
sons, Robert and his wife, Dana of Franklin,
TN and Thomas and his wife Susan of
Tulsa; seven grandchildren which include:
Grant, Matt, Lauren, Sean and Colin, all of
Tulsa and Brett and Evan of Franklin; her
brother, John and his wife Vickie of Tulsa
and her sister, Freddie of Alexandria, VA.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m., Friday,
March 19, 2010, at Asbury United Methodist
Church Mason Chapel. Fitzgerald's
Southwood Colonial Chapel, 291-3500.
