Marianne Patricia Wiggins, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died Tuesday, February 15th, 2022, in Orange City, Florida. She was 93 years old.
Marianne was born the fourth of six children to Joseph A. and Agnes (Ranagan) McDermott, on October 7, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York. She lived in New York until she married, then moved to Tulsa.
Marianne loved skating, big band music and children. While skating in New York City, she met and fell in love with her husband, Russell Wiggins. They enjoyed skating together for several years and were married 52 years until his passing in 1999. Marianne was an active and dedicated volunteer at Holy Family Cathedral and was named "Church Lady of the Year". Her love of children led her to open their home for over three decades to foreign exchange students, through the American Field Service program. During her working years, Marianne was a secretary for Tulsa Abstract Company. She lived her last twenty years with daughter, Arlene, in Deland, Florida.
Marianne is survived by: her children, James Lester Wiggins of CA, Arlene (and David) Lowery of FL, Maureen (and Kerry) Tumleson of IL, Denise (and Ben) Weddington of Tulsa, Dennis Wiggins of TN, and Joseph Wiggins of Tokyo, Japan; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and their families; and brother Larry McDermott, of NY. She is predeceased by her parents, four siblings, her son Stuart, and her husband, Russell.
Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, February 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 1402 South Boulder Avenue, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
