Marie Kathleen "Kay" Bashaw was born January 25, 1938, in Great Bend, KS, and died February 12, 2017, in Tulsa. As a graduate of Holy Family High School (Tulsa, OK) in 1956 and St. John Hospital Nursing School (Tulsa, OK) in 1958, Kay was a Registered Nurse, before she transitioned to an incredible wife and mother of six children. She was a tireless volunteer and giver of time for many activities/charities including Church of the Madalene, Little Light House, the Tulsa Center for Physically Limited, and many school related functions for her children. Kay also served as Director of Religious Education at Church of the Madalene. She was a caring wife, respected mother, and loving grandmother, as well as a friend, teacher and mentor. Kay never failed to make others feel loved, and will be dearly missed.
Kay was predeceased by: son, Gregory Paul Bashaw; husband, Frederick Bashaw; brother, James McNallen; mother, Kathryn Slater McNallen; and father, Paul James McNallen. She is survived by children: Kelly Bashaw and husband Dan Hammill; Susie Cummins and husband Larry Cummins; Marc Bashaw and wife Irina; Phil Bashaw and wife Paige; and Elizabeth Bashaw. Loved by grandchildren, Evan and Jonathon Manering-Bashaw; Anastasia (and her daughter, Alisa), Stephanie and Anthony Bashaw; Kairine Brown; Austin and Emily Bashaw; Whitney Poskitt and Emily Reeder; and brother, William Leo McNallen.
Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Ivy Chapel, 14th and South Boulder Avenue, on Friday, February 17, from 1 pm until 5 pm. Rosary service will be at 7 pm, Friday, and a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am, Saturday, February 18, both at Church of the Madalene, 3188 E. 22nd Street. Interment following at Calvary Cemetery, 91st and Harvard.
