Marjorie Loreen (Kelliher) McIntosh, my precious mother, was born May 24, 1914 to William D. and Blanche (McNabb) Kelliher in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away into the arms of her Lord on September 3rd, 2011.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jamie L. (Mac) McIntosh, two brothers, Jay and Denny Kelliher and her parents. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie (McIntosh) Hardick and Michael, granddaughters Kellie Hardick and Kristina Johnson, and great-grandchildren, Arielle Dyer, Alex Johnson, and Andrew Johnson, as well as nephew Mike Kelliher and wife Jenny, nieces Carma Lee Kelliher and Teresa Gerow, great-niece Sarah Dawes and husband Jeff, and great-great niece Raychell Dawes.
Music was Marjorie's greatest passion in life. She was a gifted singer and musician. She graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, MO, in 1931 where she was a member of the concert and marching bands. Upon graduation, she joined her brother Jay as a singer with his orchestra in Kansas City. In 1933, Marjorie met and married Jamie McIntosh, who was playing trumpet in the same band. They enjoyed 66 years of marriage before his death in 1999. She was a jazz singer and sang with several bands from the big band era, traveling across the U.S. with her husband, Jamie, who was a talented jazz trumpet player. She later sang at the Black Hotel in Oklahoma City and locally at various clubs and venues in Tulsa. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Madalene for 55 years. Marjorie never stopped singing and, tonight, sings with the angels. To quote one of your favorite songs, Mom: "I'll be seeing you in every lovely summer's day, when everything is bright and gay, I'll always think of you that way. I'll see you in the morning sun, and when the day is through, I'll be looking at the moon, and I'll be seeing you."
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 12th at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Calvary Cemetery.
