Obituary

Martha Louise Framel, 84, beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. Martha, daughter of Elmer Shade Smith and Anita Ruth Hulse Smith, was born on November 12, 1930 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. After graduating from Northside High School in Fort Smith, she married the love of her life Leo Victor Framel, Jr. on July 19, 1950. Together they lovingly raised four children and celebrated over 60 years of marriage.

After high school, Martha worked as an office assistant at Fort Riley in Manhattan, Kansas before deciding to become a full time homemaker and devote her time and talents to her family. Martha always made her home feel warm and welcoming and anyone who entered always left feeling special. She enjoyed volunteering, traveling, playing mahjong, cooking her favorite dishes, and spending time with her family and friends. Her travels took her to many exciting places but she most enjoyed riding the Orient Express and her extended around the world trip. Martha had a flair for fashion and was especially fond of all things oriental. She was a long-time parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem. Above all, Martha will forever be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and selflessness. Her loving, caring and humorous nature always shined brightly and will continue on in the hearts of her family and friends.

Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Victor Framel, Jr., two sisters, Naomi Steele and Jeannie Porter, and three brothers, Buddy, Elmer and Don Smith. Martha is survived by her four children, Debbie Framel, Karen Framel, Susan Weeldreyer and husband John, and Richard Framel, all of Tulsa, as well as her sister, Ann Topham of Oakhurst, California. Martha's life was also greatly enriched by her three grandchildren, Eric Weeldreyer of Chicago, Illinois, Sarah Weeldreyer, and Sebastian Balletto Framel, both of Tulsa. Other survivors include her brothers and sisters-in-law, and many precious nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
