Marvin (Marv.) Brown William Andrew Larson passed away on October 5, 2016. He was born on January 1, 1930 in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania to Evald and Florence Larson. He was a proud big brother to Lorraine Lutz and Laurine Lamb, who preceded him in death.
After he graduated from Cooper Township High School he ventured to New York City and began a long career with Cities Service Oil Company spanning 45 years. While working, he attended night classes and graduated from New York University with a degree in Accounting. During his early years of work, he met a beautiful young lady named June. In 1951, Marv was drafted into the U.S. Army. He proudly served until April 10, 1953. He received the rank of T-Sergeant while serving with the 101st Airborne. On April 19, 1952 he married June Westley and cherished 64 years of marriage.
Marv has three daughters, Hope Wheeler (Kevin), Oklahoma City, OK, Leslie Seiling (Ric), Rochester, New York and Kay Huddleston (Wade), Tulsa, Oklahoma. He has four grandchildren; Phillip Wheeler, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Paige Wheeler, Lafayette, Louisiana, Annette Morton, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Pearse Morton, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Marv quickly became a sports fan while keeping up with his girls activities. Regularly he could be found at the ice skating rink and timing high school swim meets. He was a member of the Tulsa Figure Skating Club and served on the Board of Directors as Treasurer. As a family they all built scenery, made costumes and skated in the annual skate club shows. When the grandkids came around he could be found cheering at football games, ice skating competitions, soccer games, baseball games and basketball games.
A highlight of Marvin's week was spending time with his church family. In 1977, he and June joined Kirk of the Hills Presbyterian Church. They served on several committees. Marv also volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 2227 East Skelly Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74105 or Kirk of the Hills, 4102 East 61st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74136.
