Mary was born April 15, 1948 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was the second of three children born to Eddie Monteilh, Sr. and Alesa (Lyons) Monteilh. She was baptized at Uganda Martyr's Catholic Church in Okmulgee, continued her faith at St. Monica Catholic Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma and later at St. Augustine Catholic Church in McLoud, Oklahoma.
Mary attended St. Monica Catholic School until the eighth grade. She continued her education at Carver Junior High School and then at Central High School, where she graduated in 1966. Upon graduation she attended Oklahoma State Technology School where she graduated with her Associates Degree in Data Entry. While attending Tech, Mary was introduced to Vernon Glenn Alexander, who became her husband of 44 years. As the story goes, Mary was looking at Aunt Kay's pictures of her fine brothers and found out that Daddy (Glenn), who had just returned from Vietnam, was single. Needless to say, Glenn later became her husband and Mary became Aunt Kay's sister-in-law! After she graduated from Tech, she began working at Oral Roberts University. Later in life, she worked various jobs, including being the cook at the family's childcare, Innovations Child Development Center.
Mary was preceded in death by: her father, Eddie Monteilh, Sr.; mother, Alesa (Lyons) Monteilh; and brother, Eddie Monteilh, Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, Vernon Glenn Alexander; two daughters, Yolanda Denise Alexander and Melissa Renee Alexander; three grandchildren, Alexia Chante Harrison, Patience Amaya Williams and Ayden Traise Alexander; one sister, Gwendolyn Marie Hammons; and a host of other relatives.
Funeral Services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 27, 2015, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 633 East Marshall Place, Tulsa, Oklahoma. Interment was at Harlinsville Cemetery in Bristow, Oklahoma.
