Obituary

Mary Anne Nelson, age 84, died on January 27, 2024, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family. Mary was born on Nov 25, 1939, in Lamont, Iowa to parents Raymond and Margaret Brady; she was one of six children. She graduated from Green City High School in 1957. After high school Mary moved to Kansas City and started working at Hallmark. She met her husband Jerome Nelson of Summerfield, Kansas and they got married on November 24, 1960. They eventually settled and made their Home in Tulsa in 1963 where they raised their children. After raising her children, Mary went back to school at Tulsa Community College where she earned an associate degree in accounting. After graduating, she worked in the bursar's office at Tulsa Community College until she retired.

Mary is survived by 3 children: Sharon Nelson, Kevin Nelson and wife Becky, and Kerry Nelson and wife Kristie Nelson; 2 granddaughters: Nicole Nelson and Taylor Pratt and husband Peyton; 1 precious great grandchild and the light of her eyes: Elliot Pratt; her sisters: Carol Tartol and husband Tony, Peggy Grajek and husband Norman, Ellie Cypert; brother John Brady and wife Dorothy; and her partner of 16 years Roger Rouse, whom put a sparkle back in her eyes.

Mary loved traveling, gardening, puzzles, and playing board games-especially scrabble. She also enjoyed bowling and playing in a couple ladies' bunco groups. You could often find her watching home renovation shows on HGTV or reading on her kindle. She loved Sunday movie matinees with her daughter. She was a kind, compassionate, witty, caring person and a devout Catholic. She was a doting grandmother and loved her granddaughters dearly and couldn't wait to spoil her new great-grandson. She was a loving mother, wife, partner, role model and will be deeply missed by those that were blessed to know her including Sherry Crutchfield, her friend and caregiver for the last year of her life.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Margaret, her husband Jerome Nelson, brother Paul Brady and son Michael Paul.
