Obituary

Mary Drusilla Lawhorn Nelson, 76, of Tulsa, Oklahoma died on March 10, 2023.

She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 13, 1946, the daughter of Lowell S. "Curley" Lawhorn and Agnes W. (Reinkemeyer) Lawhorn.

Mary attended Marquette Grade School, Bishop Kelley High School, St. John School of Radiologic Technology, and TJC. She had worked as a Radiology Manager at St. John Medical Center for over 40 years, and has always cared for and loved her "St. John Family".

She loved working with the boys at Marquette with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, and baseball teams. Affectionately calling them "her boys". She liked going to Nascar races and to Las Vegas and was an avid reader. She loved watching Roger race. Always the sports fan, she enjoyed college football and pro basketball and local racing. In recent years, she enjoyed reading, playing slots and computer games and coloring. She also enjoyed Facebook and keeping in touch with family and friends and their families. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a wonderful woman that was warm, loving, strong, and caring. Her children were her greatest achievements. She was always the happiest when she was with her family and friends. She always tried to have a positive outlook and to find the humor in all things. Her favorite sayings were... "With God, all things are possible", "Without dreams we reach nothing, without love we feel nothing and without God, we are nothing", "To thine own self, be true". Her remembrance wish is this... When you think of me, I hope you SMILE, and I hope my children stay close.

She is survived by her husband, Roger L. Nelson, son, Phillip M. Nelson, daughters, Stacey Noland, and her husband, Aaron, and Cindy Dunlap, and her husband, Daniel, grandchildren, Reagan Noland, Luke Noland, Colin Dunlap, and Violet Dunlap, and siblings, Sharon Carpenter and Mike Lawhorn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Richard L. Lawhorn and Philip A. Lawhorn, sister, Carol L. Schaum, nephews, Rich Lawhorn and Matt Rottschaefer.
