On February 20, 2025, Mary (Nina) Giovanna DeFelice Horn of Tulsa Oklahoma, peacefully passed away at her home, embraced by the love of her family. She was 78. Nina's spirit shone with radiant grace, and her soul provided enough love and support to last her loved ones for the rest of their lives.
Nina was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma, on February 9, 1947, to Peter and Norma DeFelice. Nina earned a master's degree in education from the University of Tulsa. In her early years, Nina worked as a teacher at Charles Page High School in Sand Springs Oklahoma, teaching seniors reading, comprehension, and English. During a summer break, she helped her husband Bruce open and manage his dental practice, which she ran for the next 45 years.
Nina had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was a voracious reader. She was fascinated by people and their stories. With a growing appreciation for the lives of those around her, she discovered one of her greatest joys in nurturing and guiding those around her. No experience could compare to her profound fulfillment and pride in motherhood. Her kindness was matched only by her unique charm and captivating presence. For those that she loved, there is nothing that she did not do.
Her parents, Peter and Norma, and her brother Charlie DeFelice are preceding Nina in death. She is survived by her husband, Bruce, along with their three children and four grandchildren. Her oldest child Ryan Horn and his wife Jessica reside in Tempe, Arizona with their two children, Emma and Nick. Her middle child Mona Stevens lives with her husband, Jason, in Denver, Colorado. Her youngest daughter Maggie Robinson resides in Durham, North Carolina with her husband Todd and their two children, Laney and Lucy.
A celebration of the beautiful life of Nina Horn will be held at a later date. She leaves a legacy of love and kindness, and her spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those blessed to know and love her.
