Obituary

Mary Alison Langford, 99, a resident of Tulsa since 1935, entered eternal life November 8, 2017.

Born in El Dorado, KS, on Aug. 16, 1918, to Frank and Hazel Hart, Alison was raised in small towns along the Gulf Pipeline in Oklahoma. She graduated from Jenks High School in 1935, moved to Tulsa to attend business school and worked in Tulsa as a secretary-bookkeeper.

On Nov. 19, 1942, Alison married Roy H. Langford, whom she met at Cooper-Bessemer, before Roy's Army Air Forces unit was shipped overseas. After the war, they settled in Tulsa where they raised five children: Diane Langford, a sister of Divine Providence of San Antonio; Dr. Teresa Langford of Houston; Regina (married to Bob Decker) of Tulsa, Vincent of Tulsa; and Mike, in oil and natural gas (married to Patti) of Odessa, TX. The five children were educated at Sts. Peter and Paul School and Bishop Kelley High School. Roy preceded her in death in 1966.

A lifelong Catholic, Alison was a founding member of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish in the late 1940s in northeast Tulsa. She was on the school board, and belonged to Catholic Daughters of America and the Monos Community. After retiring as bookkeeper at the Sheet Metal Workers' Local in the mid-1980s, Alison volunteered for charities, including Community Action Project.

Alison enjoyed social groups, and made lifelong friends at Sweet Adelines, the YWCA and the Xi Pi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.

She resided at The Parke Assisted Living since 2011 and enjoyed terrific new friends and a wonderful staff.

She is survived by her five children; six grandchildren (Christine Decker Callison and husband Hamilton; Megan Decker Desmarais and husband Brian; Terese Decker McGowan and husband Sean; Seth Langford and wife Monica; Mallory Langford and Dr. Alexandra Langford); seven great-grandchildren (Sophie and Paul Desmarais; Teddy Callison; Maximus, Violet and Isabelle Langford; and Blaise McGowan), and brothers Walter Hart (wife Mary Jane) and Vincent Hart (Barbara) and sister Patricia Dunn (late husband Gene).

Services include a wake at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, and Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, both at Resurrection Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, send donations to San Miguel Middle School at sanmigueltulsa.org or Sts. Peter and Paul School at peterandpaultulsa.org.  Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, 918-291-3500.
