Mary Dee Merrill, age 82, of Tulsa passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015. Mary was born May 26, 1932 in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Theresa Dee.
Mary graduated from St. Mary's Academy and the University of Colorado where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority and Golden Arrow recipient. She also attended Rosary College in River Forest, Ill. Mary worked at the Vansu Company and spent many years as a residential real estate closer working at Ted Sherwood Realtors, the Rooney Company and McGraw Realtors.
Mary married Henry Alexander Merrill on May 15, 1954 in Denver, Colorado. Mary was preceded in death by the love of her life of 60 years, Henry, who passed away on January 1, 2015. Mary is survived by her loving children and grandchildren: Dr. Tom Merrill and his wife, Debbie of Norman, OK and their three children Emily and husband JC, Amy and fiancé Brian Matlock, and Steven; Betsy Kunkel and her husband Darrel of Tulsa and their two boys, Bob and Jim; Mike Merrill of Tulsa; and Jim Merrill and his wife, Joanie of Oklahoma City and their three children, Jack, Sally and Annie.
In addition to being an avid bridge player and church volunteer, Mary tutored students at Francis Scott Key elementary school. Mary and Henry were also dedicated volunteers to Meals on Wheels where they delivered meals for over 25 years.
A visitation beginning at 5:00 pm and rosary at 7:00 pm will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Fitzgerald's Southwood Colonial Chapel (3612 E. 91st St. South, Tulsa Oklahoma). Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Church of the Resurrection, 4804 South Fulton, Tulsa, OK.
