Mary Helen Nevins was born at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 10, 1962, and passed away Monday, February 13, 2017, in the same hospital that brought her into the world 54 years ago. Mary graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1980 and went on to receive an associate's degree in accounting at Tulsa Community College. She then worked as an accountant for several years before working customer service. She had a way with people – her sharp wit and sense of humor made every interaction with her memorable.
She loved conversation, but thrived in the solitude of music and photography – two of her three passions. While these hobbies were enjoyable, only one thing meant the world to her – her daughter. And while "Momma Bear" was a single mother, she didn't let her circumstances stop her from creating the best life possible for her daughter. She was a loving mother, caring daughter, baby sister, and she will be deeply missed.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Denise and her husband Randahl Jenson; sister, Cathy and her husband Jim Burke; brothers Tom Nevins, James and his wife Becky Nevins, and Michael and his wife Laurie Nevins; mother, Helen Nevins; and father, James Nevins.
Mary suffered from multiple health complications for most of her life, and the family would like to thank her great friends and the dedicated medical staff who helped care for her for many years.
A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at the Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel, on Friday February 17, 2017 at 2 p.m.
