Obituary

Mary Kathryn (Schwing, Doty) Pruett, 82, passed away on November 6, 2024. In her final days, Mary was surrounded by her loved ones and caregivers at Homestead of Owasso Memory Care, Rivercross Hospice and Visiting Angels.

Mary was born on October 2nd, 1942, to Louis and Margaret Schwing, in Tulsa. She attended Saint Francis Catholic School, Marquette Catholic High School, and graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1962. She married Jerry Ray Doty, and resided in Stillwater, where she worked and raised her two children, Shaun and Michelle. Mary moved back to Tulsa in 1990, and worked until her retirement at St. John Hospital in the medical billing department.
She married her love, Bill Pruett, in July of 2005, and they enjoyed many wonderful things together...golf, western movies, and listening to their records. They enjoyed several years of traveling to see their children and grandchildren. One of their favorite things was to host family dinners at their home, where family and friends would join them.

Mary took great joy in her love of her family. She was the youngest of four children and has been close with her sisters and brother throughout her life. Mary was a devoted Catholic, and proud member of Church of the Resurrection in Tulsa . She always offered kind words and a prayer to someone in need.

She was a proud "Nini," and enjoyed her grandchildren most of all. She loved spoiling them throughout the year and especially on holidays. She was an active grandmother who enjoyed spending time with all of them. If it was learning a TikTok dance, playing basketball or front yard baseball, or even swimming, she was always "all in" with a smile and laughter. She rarely missed a sporting event or school activity for her precious grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Jackson Pruett, Jr., her parents, Margaret and Louis Schwing, her brother, Jimmy Schwing, and her stepdaughter, Paige Pruett Butler.

Mary is survived by her loving children; Shaun Doty (Natalie), Michelle Gummere (Chris), Ashley Pruett (Kay), and her eight grandchildren, Davin, Jacey, Calan, Dante, Brick, Jackson, Grayson and Lucas. She is also survived by her sisters Margaret Dayer and Betty Danchertsen (Chuck), and her sisters-in-law Sarah Schwing and Mary Jane Pruett Collins (Michael).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff and caregivers at Legends of Tulsa Hills, Homestead of Owasso Memory Care, Rivercross Hospice and Visiting Angels. Mary spent her final years in wonderful care living her best life with these loving and caring people. Her family is forever grateful for your kindness and care.
