Mary Frances (Goeppinger) Roberts, age 95, left her earthly home on Thursday, September 15th, 2022, after a long battle which started with Covid in January.
Mary was born February 27, 1927, in Sabinal, Texas, to William Frederick and Catherine Frances Goeppinger. After going to school in Santa Rita, Mary moved to San Angelo, Texas, to find work. While there, Mary met a handsome young Bombardier and Navigator Instructor at Goodfellow Air Force Base named James Anthony Roberts. They were married in 1945 and moved to Tulsa in 1949.
Mary and Jim raised six children. She was a wonderful cook and housekeeper. Her children remember fondly her fried chicken, pot roast, pecan pies, and jello salads, and less fondly, her fried liver.
Years after Jim's death, Mary married Mel Strabala.
She attended the Church of the Madelene for more than 50 years where she was active in the Women's Club.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters, and husbands.
She is survived by her children, Jim Roberts and wife Roni, Paul Roberts and wife Beth, Marianne Taylor, Steve Roberts, Phil Roberts and wife Teresa, Julie Skelton and husband Jeff; 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A rosary and memory sharing will be Monday, September 19th, at 7:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald's Southwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, September 20th, at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Madelene. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa.
