Marty Sheehan, known as mom, YA-YA, aunt, sister, daughter, friend, and loved by so many, and one of the kindest and most generous people anyone could ever know, passed away this Sunday, December 18, 2016, after a long and valiant fight.

Born Mary Martha Sheehan on January 28, 1951 she was the daughter of Rosemary Dean and Robert David Sheehan.  Marty and her brother David grew up in mid-town Tulsa, where Marty graduated from Monte Cassino High School.  Except for her time spent at Bradford Junior College and Colorado State University where she graduated, Marty was always proud to call Tulsa home.  Marty came from a large family who she enjoyed immensely, many of whom predeceased her and are welcoming her to heaven, but none of whom she ever forgot. She worked many years as an accomplished floral designer with Mary Murray's flowers.

An Independent woman, she had many loves but none greater than the two daughters she and Pat Coen raised together; Katey Sheehan Frash and Molly Siobhan Coen. Her family grew in recent years with Katey's marriage to David Frash and the birth of her first grand daughter Maura Rose Frash.  Her unofficial family was full of her daughters' friends who considered her a second Mom.  She gave many of those friends rides, provided coolers of foods for volleyball games and worked tirelessly at school events.  Her door was always open to any one and everyone.

We will always remember Marty as someone who had such a love for life.  It did not matter if she was listening to Rolling Stones in her house or traveling the world, Marty strove every day to show her family and friends the better things in life.  Marty never knew a stranger and always was a friend.  Marty will be missed by many but celebrated by more, because everything in life to Marty was a celebration.

Her Catholic faith and Irish heritage were the strongest threads of the fabric of her life.  Small of stature, but big of heart, she was a rare person that will be missed by all whose paths she crossed.

Marty, the road has risen up to meet you and the wind will forever be at your back, we know the sun now shines warm upon your face, and until we meet again, we know your Irish eyes are smiling down on us all.  This is not good bye, it's see you soon.
Rosary will be Tuesday, 7 PM. and Funeral Mass will be 10 AM, Wednesday, December 21, both at Christ the King Catholic Church, 16th and South Quincy, in Tulsa.
