Obituary

Mary Jo Shore passed away at her home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 24 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Known as Jo to friends and family, she was an artist, history buff, a meticulous seamstress, and a woodworker. She worked as an illustrator for the Fort Sill army base in Lawton, Oklahoma, before being named Director of the Fort Sill National Historic Landmark and Museum. In her fifties, she got her pilot's license.

Mary Jo was born on August 18, 1933, in Oklahoma City, to Alice and Harold Cain of Seminole, Oklahoma. In 1954, she married Jerry Dale Emenhiser (d. 2012) and they had six children, Karen Emenhiser-Harris, Kevin Scott (d. 1958), Jerome Paul (d. 1972), Elizabeth Ann Burns, Christopher Adam, and Margaret Mary Emenhiser-Way. A second marriage to Robert Shore added Daphne Dinsmore to our family.

She deeply loved all of her grandchildren: Dustin Dinsmore, Carolyn Harris, Cody Dinsmore, Robert Burns, Nick Emenhiser, Sarah Khadivi (nee Burns), Michael Burns, Joe Harris, Alex Emenhiser, and John Burns.

Her beloved great-grandchildren are Addison and Noah Dinsmore, Claire and Ella Burns, Duke and Alice Dinsmore, Annabelle Emenhiser, Mason Jet Grimm, and, most recently, her namesake, Josephine Khadivi, who she held- squirming-in her arms many times in the year before she passed.

Mary Jo was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska. A traditional Latin funeral mass will be said by Father Sandquist.

In lieu of flowers, Jo requests donations to the Sioux City Iowa Corp of the : Salvation Army
