Mary Ruth Wharton (neé Gibson) passed away peacefully in her home in Broken Arrow on March 27th, 2026.

Mary Ruth was born on December 17th, 1932, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to parents Robert E. Gibson and Jackie Hazel Gibson. Mary Ruth graduated Bixby High School in 1953 and began working in Tulsa. There, she met the love of her life, Leslie J. Wharton. They were married at Christ the King Catholic Parish in 1953 and shared 69 years of devoted partnership. Mary Ruth's family and six children were her highest priority, second only to her love for Christ.

Mary Ruth is preceded in death by 10 siblings, her husband Les, and her beloved daughter Dorothy Elizabeth. She is survived by her children, daughter Catherine and husband Al, daughter Eileen, son Paul and wife Lorraine, son John and wife Laura, son James, her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel. A Rosary will be held at 12:30 p.m., with the Funeral Mass to follow at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 10th, at St. Anne's Catholic Church, followed by a graveside service at Calvary Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
