MARY JANE WHEELER, a long-time Tulsa resident, died peacefully in her sleep in the early morning hours of March 3, 2026, at Forest Hills Care Center in Broken Arrow. She was 83 years old. A Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated March 6, 2026, and Mary was laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa.

Mary, daughter of Thomas William ("Bud") Wheeler and Helen Catherine (Gregory) Wheeler, was born May 31, 1942, in Evansville, Indiana. Her father Bud was a geologist and oil driller, moving his young family around quite a few times before eventually settling in Tulsa. Mary attended Barnard Elementary School, where she learned to play soccer and softball. She never gave up her love of softball and playing in the neighborhood ball field that was actually the Wheeler's front yard. She also loved spending time with her grandparents, "Nana" and Joe Gregory, in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where Mary would go trout fishing in her cowboy outfit.

Mary also loved attending high school at Monte Cassino Catholic School, where she graduated in 1960. She made many lifelong friends there. Mary also deeply loved the Catholic Church and was a truly devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

Mary was an accomplished piano player and artist. She particularly enjoyed pen and ink drawing and watercolor painting. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the American Heart Association and was also an "Avon Lady."

Mary is predeceased by her parents, T. W. and Helen Wheeler, and her nephew John Wheeler Teague. She is survived by her sister, Ann Wheeler Teague, and nephew James Christoper Teague, of Houston, TX; and nephew Robert Gregory Teague of Oakland, CA.
